Thanks to the vision and hard work of academic leaders in the School of Veterinary Medicine, UC Davis vet students receive some of the best education and training in the world. (UC Davis archival photo)
After 60 years, the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine remains one of a kind.
It was our first professional school, remains the only veterinary school in the UC system and is the only public school in California authorized to confer the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
Watch the stories of how the vet school developed as told by retired faculty members. In the spotlight are William Pritchard, Edward Rhode, John Osebold, Robert Cello and Jiro “Jerry” Kaneko.
These videos were produced through the UC Davis Emeriti Association’s oral history project, a 16-year venture in which more than 300 retired professors have recounted their roles in creating UC Davis.
In addition, on the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences page, we’ve added videos about how our food science and technology department developed, featuring George York, Michael Lewis, Robert Feeney and John Whitaker.
